U.S. Spacewalk 97 – more needs to be done

U.S. Spacewalk 97 – plus ESA astronaut – delay in connecting antenna

Time ran out so another spacewalk to be arranged by NASA to complete the installation.

NASA astronaut Anil Menon and ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot venture outside the International Space Station for an approximately six-and-a-half-hour spacewalk. The pair replace a Space-to-Ground antenna that enables high-speed communications between the Mission Control Center in Houston and the orbital complex.

ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot takes part in her first-ever spacewalk during U.S. spacewalk 97.

Together with NASA astronaut Anil Menon, will replace a Space-to-Ground antenna on the International Space Station, a critical communications system that enables high-speed data and voice links between Mission Control in Houston and the space station. Coverage begins at 12:00 BST, 13:00 CEST, with the spacewalk beginning at approximately 14:35 CEST.
