PMQs – Sunak: remorse of donor should be accepted
The Prime Minister experienced a rough time in the Chamber today.
Labour’s Sir Keir Starmer demanded answers about donations and the return on the money.
Starmer intensified pressure on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to return Frank Hester’s £10m, ahead of PMQs at noon.
Labour leader says PM too scared to call a General Election.
But minister Kevin Hollinrake says the party is not planning to return the money, saying Hester has apologised.
Frank Hester allegedly said MP Diane Abbott made him want to “hate all black women”.
Downing Street last night said the alleged comments were “racist and wrong”. This after initially declining to say whether they were racist.
Labour called on the Conservatives to give the money back, and Sir Keir Starmer pressed the PM on the issue in the Commons later.
MP Lee Anderson suspended as a Conservative MP last month after he refused to apologise for claiming Islamists had “control” of London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
