The Prime Minister says next Tuesday’s vote on Rwanda bill not treated as confidence vote in his government.

The “time for talk” on tackling illegal migration and stopping the boats is over, Suella Braverman has said in a warning to Rishi Sunak.

Robert Jenrick, who was Mr Sunak’s immigration minister, resigned yesterday over the contents of the newly-unveiled Rwanda Bill, which he claimed represents a “triumph of hope over experience”.

Mrs Braverman, now a backbencher after her sacking by the Prime Minister last month, told the BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “We need to stop the boats. At the moment we are in a very perilous situation, the facts don’t lie. And we need to deliver on a key promise.

“That’s how we win the next general election. The time for talk, the time for slogans and promises, is over. We need to show delivery.”

She went on to warn Mr Sunak his new Rwanda Bill would not work, adding: “There are elements that should be welcomed in this new bill that the Prime Minister has presented.
