Rishi Sunak: forces trying to tear us apart – spreading a poison
The Prime Minister made a hastily arranged broadcast outside Downing Street.
He said democracy is being targeted by extremists, and there are forces that are “trying to tear us apart”.
He warned about the current situation in Britain, in the aftermath of the October 7 attacks by Hamas against Israel.
The UK is seeing a “shocking increase in criminality related to extremism”, he said, and we must “draw a line”.
He called on the police to “not merely manage protests but police them”, and said the government would back their action.
PM also said the victory of George Galloway in the Rochdale by-election was “beyond alarming”.
