Starmer backs strikes to stop Houthi attacks

Sir Keir Starmer says Labour backs the military operation so far – but needs to consider the arguments if the UK plans further attacks there.

Speaking with Laura Kuenssberg on the BBC’s Sunday programme Sir Keir said the strikes so far clearly designed to stop Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.

Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron had said that the strikes in Yemen show that the UK and allies are “prepared to take action backing their words”.

In the meantime, Britain and the United States warned they will attack Houthi targets again.  This if the Iranian-backed militants keep disrupting commercial and military ships in the Red Sea.

The Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is expected to address Parliament on Monday 15 January about the attacks.
