After lifting off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan and docking to the International Space Station earlier on Thursday, Nov. 27, the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft carrying NASA astronaut Chris Williams and two Roscosmos cosmonauts is scheduled to open its hatch around 10:10 a.m. EST (1510 UTC).

Selected as a candidate in 2021, Williams graduated with the 23rd astronaut class in 2024. He began training for his first space station flight assignment immediately after completing initial astronaut candidate training.

The crew will spend eight months aboard the space station as part of Expeditions 73 and 74. This is Williams’ first mission.

For more than 25 years, people have lived and worked continuously aboard the International Space Station, advancing scientific knowledge and making research breakthroughs that are not possible on Earth.
