NASA’s SpaceX Crew-10 Launch – to the ISS – rescue
NASA’s SpaceX Crew-10 Launch
NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers, JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Takuya Onishi. Also Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov will launch to the International Space Station on the agency’s SpaceX Crew-10 mission.
Liftoff Friday, March 14. Wednesday’s launch attempt was scrubbed due to a hydraulic system issue with a ground support clamp arm.
SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft will carry NASA astronauts Anne McClain, commander; and Nichole Ayers, pilot; along with mission specialists JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Takuya Onishi, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov to the orbiting laboratory for a long-duration science mission. This is the 10th crew rotation mission and the 11th human spaceflight mission for NASA to the space station supported by the Dragon spacecraft since 2020 as part of the agency’s Commercial Crew Program.
Following the launch of Crew-10, NASA astronauts Nick Hague, Suni Williams, and Butch Wilmore, along with Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov, will depart the station for a splashdown off the coast of Florida.
U.S. astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams have been stuck on the orbital lab for nine months.
Weather forecast to be excellent on the Space Coast heading into the March 14 launch opportunity. The current forecast is a greater-than-95% chance of acceptable conditions at launch. Weather along the Atlantic coast is also expected to be favorable for the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft’s trip to orbit. Chances of weather violations increase on Saturday, March 15, and Sunday, March 16, to 50% and 60%, respectively.
