William resumes royal duties

Prince William is resuming royal duties after taking time off while his wife, the Princess of Wales, recovers from surgery.

He attended an investiture at Windsor Castle this morning, before a charity dinner for the London Air Ambulance later.

The Prince of Wales performed his first duty today at an investiture ceremony at Windsor.

England Lioness footballer Ellen Convery – more widely know as Ellen White – received an MBE this morning from the Prince of Wales.

She said it was an “incredible honour to receive an MBE” at Windsor Castle and she felt “very lucky”.

According to palace sources, Prince William has until now been focusing on being at the side of his wife and children, rather than carrying out public engagements.

But with an “unwavering commitment to duty and service”, he is now returning to his public role with the investitures and an air ambulance fundraising event later on Wednesday.

The investitures – where people receive honours in person from a member of the Royal Family – were said toreflect his support for people playing an important role in their communities.
