Two days of events are taking place in the UK and France to mark the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings.

King Charles, Queen Camilla and Prince William attended a ceremony in Portsmouth.  The King delivered a speech of praise and glory for the military personnel who fought and died in the D-Day landings.

Rishi Sunak also attended the commemoration event on Southsea Common.

On 6 June 1944, troops from the UK, the US, Canada, and France landed in Normandy and attacked German forces.

It was the largest military naval, air and land operation ever attempted and the start of the campaign to liberate north-west Europe.

On Tuesday, around 25 veterans travelled on a ferry from Portsmouth to France. They carried a torch from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.  This will feature at a vigil in Bayeux, Normandy on Wednesday.
