Graham Lyle honoured BMI Icon – this at London Awards 2024 – watch his great talent
BMI honoured Graham Lyle with BMI Icon Award Monday at the 2024 BMI London Awards, 9 December. A private event, held at The Savoy in London and hosted by BMI President and CEO Mike O’Neill.
As one of the most successful British songwriters of his generation, Lyle has written countless hit songs. They include Tina Turner’s classic “What’s Love Got To Do With It” with Terry Britten. It won Song of the Year at the 1985 GRAMMY Awards. It became Turner’s best-selling single.
The Award also earned Lyle multiple BMI Million-Air Awards ultimately reaching eight million broadcast performances on U.S. radio.
Lyle also wrote for several other high-profile artists across all genres. They include “Just good Friends” by MIchael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.
When he received the award Lyle thanked many of the people in the industry.
As a BMI icon, Lyle joins an elite group of previous recipients including Sting, Gary Kemp, Graham Gouldman, Sir Tim Rice. The Bee Gees, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Ray Davies, John Fogerty.
