Markets are “clearly worried” says Badenoch, who calls Burnham a “spendthrift prime minister” who “wants to say yes to everyone”.

She asks Burnham if he will “be honest” and say whether he is preparing to raise taxes.

The prime minister hits back that he’s “already indicated” his first moves are to “cut tax”.

But adds he’s not going to “write the Budget here”.

PM accuses Badenoch of stirring up “prolonged speculation”.  Burnham says he and the chancellor have opted for an early autumn Budget to reduce that.
