The update comes as Mahmood revealed in a post on X that the terrorism police department are now leading the investigation.

Widdecombe was a Conservative MP between 1987 and 2010 for the Kent constituency of Maidstone. Later Maidstone & the Weald, and held several ministerial positions in Sir John Major’s government.

She later switched allegiance to the Brexit Party and then Reform. She was Reform’s immigration and justice spokesperson from 2023 until her death.
