LATEST – “NASA is back in the business of sending astronauts to the moon”
The Armetis II crew is now more than halfway through their mission and is scheduled to splash down off the coast of San Diego at approximatley 8:07 pm EDT on Friday April 10. 1:07 AM British Summer Time (BST) the following day.
NASA and Department of War personnel will safely assist the crew out of Orion and transport them to the USS John P. Murtha.
Crew have spoken to their families and excersing to keep active.
Four astronauts aboard NASA’s Artemis II test flight around the Moon made history at 1:56 pm EDT Monday, 2026, 6.56 British Summer Time.
This was when they reached 248,655 miles from Earth – surpassing the farthest distance ever travelled by humans, a record previously set by Apollo 12 in 1970.
NASA has sent astronauts around the Moon for the first time in more than 50 years.
NASA’s Artemis II was launched from Kennedy Space Center on April 1.
Four astronauts — three from NASA and one from the CSA (Canadian Space Agency) — make up the Artemis II crew:
1) NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman, Artemis II commander
– NASA astronaut Victor Glover, Artemis II pilot
– NASA astronaut Christina Koch, Artemis II mission specialist
– Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Jeremy Hansen, Artemis II mission specialist
Artemis II will be the first crewed flight test of SLS and Orion, testing the technologies we’ll need for long-term lunar exploration and human missions to Mars.
