The NHS came close to collapse during the height of the pandemic but narrowly avoided it due to the efforts of healthcare staff, the Covid Inquiry finds.

Telling people to “stay home and protect the NHS” during lockdown led to thousands missing out on lifesaving care for cancer and heart attacks, the Covid Inquiry has concluded.
