Lord Mandelson is to step down from the House of Lords, the Lord Speaker says

This as the Prime Minister states “he has let the country down”.

It is alleged the former Cabinet Minister passed sensitive information to the paedophile financier.

Mandelson has told the Lords authorities that he will relinquish his seat in the upper chamber from midnight on Tuesday night in response to the latest allegations about his conduct.
