What an exciting game! Garnacho opens scoring and Mainoo doubled lead. A fantastic team and an overjoyed stadium full of football fans from both sides.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag told BBC One: “All compliments to the team. We played very good to our identity. Very strong. You have seen how we can play when we have the players on board. Some were not even match fit but the performance was very good.
Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot, speaking to BBC TV: “It was the best way to approach the game, the hard work, the resilience and it was our best game of the season in terms of being a team.”
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has just given some fairly short answers in his BBC One interview
Asked what he said to the players after a rare final defeat: “Congratulations to them on a fantastic season.” “Congratulations to Manchester United for winning the FA Cup. I think my game plan was not good.”
Comment: Ten Hag got everything right today. I hope he stays. He’s building the team of the future – with Mainoo, Matinez, Garnacho and Fernandes.
