Watch as man given ‘roof awakening’ by police

The rude or ‘roof’ awakening, captured on police drone footage when the police Tactical Aid Unit took action.

Officers were successful in bringing down a 37-year-old, Saturday 15 August, 2026. He can be seen on the roof attempting to hide on a property on Reservoir Street in Salford.

It had been a two-day stand-off to remove the 37-year-old man who was wanted on recall to prison for other matters.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing public nuisance. Also criminal damage, public order offences, burglary and assaulting two police officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Helen Bagnall, of our Salford District, said:

“This was an extensive use of vital policing resources and clearly demonstrates the dangers our officers face on a daily basis in order to protect the people of Greater Manchester.

“Two of our officers suffered minor injuries during this incident.”
