PM: Social Media Ban for under 16s

Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X among platforms banned by spring 2027 says the Government.

Platforms not affected are WhatsApp and Signal.

“We hope to pass regulation before Christmas,” the Prime Minister said.

Australia became the first country in the world to introduce a similar ban in December last year.

A Snapchat spokesperson says a ban on its platform could push young people onto “less safe platforms”.
