LIVE – PM no online platform gets “free pass” on child safety

Speaking in London this morning, the Prime Minister said that no online platform would be given a “free pass” when it comes to children’s safety on the internet

PM – Government “takes action to keep children safe online” / No online platform gets “free pass” on child safety.  The aim to “close loopholes that put children at risk”

Sir Keir Starmer unveiled an online child safety crackdown.  “We as a government need to be up there alongside parents – providing leadership and support for them when it comes to social media”.

The Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited a community hub in London. Starmer announced action planned to improve online safety for children.

PM:  “Technology is moving really fast, and the law has got to keep up,” Sir Keir said, adding that he wanted Britain to be a leader in online safety”.

In response to a question about defence the PM said “We need to go faster” on defence spending.
