The Worshipful The Mayor of Southwark from May 2024 to May 2025 has been Councillor Naima Ali.

A refugee from war in Somalia, Naima Ali arrived in the UK in 1997 and is now a proud British Citizen.

Nothing came easily but here you will meet a positive person who gives all of herself to her work.

Chris Haydon, director Community Trust spoke with Naima Ali who welcomed the opportunity to talk her career.

Community TV Trust

TV producer Chris Haydon launched local media specialist Community TV Trust [CTVT] in 1999 and remains director and managing trustee. Today it offers media training, documentary film and video production.

With skills acquired, many of which were transferable, and with solid local stories told, “Southwark.TV” was a success.

Local media is useful, relevant and fun. It also empowers.

Many years on Chris and CTVT remain committed to community media; work has been seen on broadcast channels, and widely on the internet; our latest production is a documentary film about and celebrating local media, “from Local to Social“.
