Prince Andrew under scrutiny over alleged Chinese spy
A suspected Chinese spy with ties to Prince Andrew has been banned from entering the U.K. due to national security concerns. The unnamed businessman reportedly attended Andrew’s birthday party and was authorised to represent him in dealings with Chinese partners. Authorities believe the man was linked to a Chinese Communist Party organisation used for political interference.
Photos of the alleged spy, codenamed ‘H6,’ also show him with former U.K. leaders David Cameron and Theresa May. Prince Andrew’s office claims all ties were cut following government advice, and no sensitive information was shared. This controversy intensifies scrutiny over Andrew’s connections with wealthy foreign figures and concerns about access to the royal family.
Royal sources have reportedly revealed King Charles is still considering the optics, and whether or not to ban his younger brother from this very public part of the royals’ festivities, which attracts crowds of well wishers.
After the Jeffrey Epstein scandal broke, though Andrew did not walk with the others to the 11am service in 2019, he was photographed walking side-by-side with Charles to a private 9am service. It was clear acknowledgment of his family’s firm support after his catastrophic Newsnight interview, and that while no longer having a public profile he very much retained his position as a senior member of the family.
