Sir Keir Starmer sets out a “plan for change” with milestones set in key policy areas to achieve the targets laid out in Labour’s manifesto.  He delivers the speech in Buckinghamshire.

Milestones

PM: country first Party second.  NHS losing trust of the British public.  Mission-led Government is a plan for the nation.  Vows to reduce legal and illegal immigration.  Pledges higher living standards in every part of UK.  Vows to cut NHS waiting lists.

Plan to double down on national missions.

Change and reform are coming.

Missions this government will deliver.

Easy answers won’t make out country strong.

We are building a future for working people.

Five months to the day since becoming Prime Minister, No10 said Keir Starmer will unveil a ‘clear destination’ for the country over the next five years.

Zoe Billingham, who was previously Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue, says having a named officer that people can get hold of – which Starmer is promising – is something communities want.

She told Radio4 – Neighbourhood policing is the “only way” we can stop crime from happening in the first place.
