Watch again: Liam Payne fans mourn his death – he fell from 3rd floor balcony of hotel

Liam Payne, former member of One Direction died in Argentina aged 31 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires.

Payne was in the city for a concert of former bandmate, Niall Horan, a fortnight ago.

Liam Payne’s family have just issued a statement following his death:

“We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.

“We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”

TV presenter Dermot O’Leary says he remembers Payne as 14-year-old auditioning for The X Factor. On Instagram O’Leary wrote:

“The worst news. I remember him as a 14 year old turning up to audition on The X Factor, and blowing us away singing Sinatra. He just loved to sing. He was always a joy, had time for everyone, polite, grateful, and was always humble. Sending love and prayers to his family. Dx”.

Tributes pouring from around the globe including X Factor stars such as Rylan Clark who called it “tragic”.
