Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer pledges to fix the Conservatives’ £22 billion black hole. Starmer adds the opposition must accept that Labour ‘fixing foundations.

Starmer avoided question and said “proud” publishing workers ‘Rights Bill’. Tories must accept we’re fixing foundations.
This, Starmer says, something the Conservative government “failed on for 14 years”.
In response, Mr Sunak says that “not everyone or everything has survived his first 100 days in government”.
Former prime minister Rishi Sunak moved questioning to national insurance. Sunak asked Sir Keir if promise not to raise the tax applies to both employee and employer contributions.
Sir Keir dodged the question, instead saying set out the promises in Labour’s manifesto.
“I stick to my promises in the manifesto,” he adds.
Warnings from the head of MI5 raised by Sunak. The former PM asks Starmer to confirm the Terrorism Bill gives security services the powers to tackle “evolving threats” and promises “constructive support”.
There is a sombre tone in Parliament as Starmer confirms “we will give the security forces and services the powers they need”. Starmer praises the “incredible job” they do.
