Banksy adorns bare tree with green leaves
The mural appeared overnight on the side of a building on Hornsey Road in Finsbury Park. Banksy confirmed it is his work.
Residents immediately embraced the artwork depicting the foliage of a tree. Many said they were proud and delighted Banksy chose their street for his latest mural.
Crowds of people turned out to see the artwork on Monday morning 18 March.
The artwork shows a splattering of green paint behind a bare tree to essemble foliage. A stencil of a person holding a pressure hose depicted next to it.
Residents said they were ‘proud and delighted’ at the thought of the anonymous artist choosing their street for his latest mural. This when it emerged on Sunday after being painted overnight.
Banksy – Britain’s most famous street artist – is renowned for choosing homes at random to use for his artwork, often shooting up their value by millions.
It is understood that Islington council’s graffiti removal team is aware of the artwork and will not remove it.
Before this piece, the artist’s last confirmed work was in December. This when he painted military drones on to a stop sign in Peckham, south London.
That work removed less than an hour after confirmed to be genuine on the artist’s social media. Witnesses reporting it taken down by a man with bolt-cutters. Two men later arrested on suspicion of theft and criminal damage.
