British Ice skaters Torvil and Dean are to retire and made the announcement ahead of their British tour.  This, to mark the British the  anniversary of the duo’s Olympic gold in Sarajevo 40 years ago.

The pair from Nottingham, made British sporting history after winning a gold medal for their now-famous routine to Ravel’s Bolero at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo.

They revolutionised ice-skating across the globe with their exceptional style and moves.

Forty years later, they returned to Sarajevo to celebrate.

In their famous Valentine’s Day performance, the duo did not skate for the first 20 seconds of their routine.  This in compliance with Olympic rules.

Many have speculated about their relationship wondering if they were in love. The couple admit it is between ‘brother and sister’ and a married couple.
