The boss of Fujitsu’s European arm gives evidence to the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry today.

Paul Patterson again apologised for Fujitsu’s involvement in the Post Office scandal.  He said the firm determined to “get to the truth wherever it lays”

Patterson: Issues with Horizon “right from start”.

Paul Patterson faced a committee of MPs for questions on the same subject 16 January 2024.

Fujitsu staff feared being “hauled over the coals” after realising the Post Office using “manipulated” audit data.  This to criminally investigate sub-postmasters, the Horizon IT inquiry heard.

John Simpkins, a team leader at Japanese firm’s software support centre (SSC), confirmed that data on recorded transactions made in branches passed on to the Post Office in a “filtered format” of what Fujitsu had.

Current and former employees from the multi-billion pound firm are giving evidence to the inquiry into the scandal.  More than 900 sub-postmasters were wrongly prosecuted because of glitches in the company’s Horizon computer software.
