Moon Village – bold new vision for space – could it happen?

In 2016 The European Space Agency had a dream.

ESA’s then Director General Jan Woerner, spoke of a bold new vision for space exploration.  It was to build a permanent base station on the Moon.  He wanted it called a “Moon Village”.

Woerner outlined how it would not be a village with houses around a main street but a technological and scientific human presence on the moon.

It would represent a giant leap in space exploration, following and enlarging the current cooperation on the International Space Station as a global project.

In this video Jan Woerner explains his idea for what he sees as an open station, for different member states and also different states around the globe.

In 2022, NASA with the Artemis 1 mission wants to send people to the moon.  A village would be perfect for them.
