How Was Christmas When Austerity Hit Us. Is it still an economic squeeze?

In recent years Britain has had tough economic times but it hasn’t stopped spending at Christmas. It was the same when austerity hit as far back as 2011. At the time we went to two cities to find out whether the virtually ‘dead’ economy was affecting the High Street and the buying of presents.

In Portsmouth and Cardiff there was little hesitation in dipping into the pocket to buy presents for family and friends.

Despite less money in 2011, not too many people were missing out especially the kids!
