The Best Fish and Chips shop voted for by customers across the nation
The Golden Fish in Dagenham has been given the accolade of best Fish and Chip Shop in the UK.
The Potato Council announced the award during Chip week 16th – 22nd February 2015. The Shop beat off competition from 900 restaurants nationwide.
The family-run chip shop sits on the high street and has been serving customers for 40 years.
The Golden Fish can seat 40 customers and serves about 5000 people per week. It has previously been voted the best fish and chip shop in south east England.
While locals are its best customers – including David Beckham’s parents – apparently personalities and many from abroad also show up to taste the best fish and chips in Britain.
The Potato Council said: “Great Britain is no doubt a nation of chip lovers and wanted to vote for their favourite. Us Brits feel strongly about supporting our local chippy, so it’s no surprise so many people took the time to vote for their favourite in the Choice Chip Awards this year.”
