NASA Astronaut Chris Williams Soyuz MS-28 Launch
NASA astronaut Chris Williams is launching to the International Space Station from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. A Roscosmos Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft will carry Williams on his first flight, as well as Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Mikaev of Roscosmos.
Liftoff is scheduled for 4:27 a.m. EST (0927 UTC), and the spacecraft and crew are scheduled to dock at the station at about 7:38 a.m. EST (1238 UTC) on the same day.
After a two-orbit, three-hour trip to the orbital complex, the spacecraft will automatically dock to the station’s Rassvet module at approximately 7:38 a.m. Shortly after, hatches will open between Soyuz and the space station.
The crew will spend approximately eight months aboard the orbital laboratory as part of Expedition 73/74. During his time in orbit, Williams will conduct scientific investigations and technology demonstrations to help prepare the crew for future space missions and provide benefits to people on Earth.
