Shabana Mahmood : Asylum reforms will save our country. We must restore order and control.
Policy aims to “reduce illegal arrivals”. Increase removal of those who “have no right to be here”.
She says the country will “continue to support those who play by the rules”, whereas those that don’t can have that support removed”.

The government pledges to also do more to remove families of failed asylum seekers.
Asylum seekers will be returned home if their country is deemed safe, most will have to wait 20 years to apply to settle permanently, with deportations sped up when claims are rejected.
The Home Secretary unveiled the measures in Parliament today.
