Live: Closing ceremony on final day of 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games
Opening dance performance, soccer 5v5 final and closing ceremony on the final day of the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games.
The games put on display China’s prowess in humanoid robotics, a technological field that has been pushed to the forefront of the country’s artificial intelligence industry. The hype machine is in full swing.
Organisers say the purpose of the event is to trial and refine current robotics. They say sports are a way to test a robot’s decision-making, motor skills and controllers that could be later applied in real-life settings like factories and homes.
It’s all part of China’s push to become a global leader in humanoid robotics. The government has a national plan to build a world-class humanoid industry by 2027.
Teams came from countries including the United States, Germany and Brazil, with 192 representing universities and 88 from private enterprises such as China’s Unitree and Fourier Intelligence. Competing teams used robots from Chinese manufacturers such as Booster Robotics.
