Soccer Aid – Dermot Kennedy – outstanding performance
The annual charity event Soccer Aid returned to Manchester this weekend with two teams full of football legends and celebrities taking to the pitch.
Among those taking part is singer and songwriter Dermot Kennedy, 33. He played for the Soccer Aid World XI team and also performed in the halftime show.
Kennedy released his first complete album titled ‘Without Fear’ in late 2019. The same year he also featured on the BBC’s Sound of 2019 nomination list.
The charity match took place place at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium on Sunday night and will feature an England team and World XI team of stars.
The Dublin-born singer was nominated for international male solo artist the following year at the 2020 Brit Awards. He then went on to win the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year 2021 for his song ‘Better Days’, in March 2022.
Kennedy released his second studio album ‘Sonder’ in late 2022. He has since announced his upcoming tour spanning the UK, Europe and North America.
This year’s England XI featured the likes of Jermain Defoe, Bear Grylls, Tom Grennan, Joe Hart, Gary Neville and Louis Tomlinson.
