BGT: Simon Cowell risks life involving watermelons and mallet

Simon Cowell invited on stage and asked to lie down and keep very stil. Then performer Kranthi Drillman began smashing watermelons inches from his head and body.

In jaw-dropping scenes the music mogul stayed as still as he could while the contestant used a mallet to smash the watermelons placed around Simon’s body.

Cowell said he could feel the wind from the force of the hammer and the spray of the watermelon juice on his face.

Later and aftr watching the moment back, Cowell said “You know the feeling when you think somebody doesn’t want you on the show anymore? It was that. It was the closest I’m thinking genuinely, they want to kill me”.

Emergency staff were on stand by during the act. Amanda Holden said: “Even with St John’s ambulance, I don’t know what they would have done!”

The BGT judges all shared their horror on watching Cowell taking part in the act. Holden admitted to being horrified after watching it unfold before her eyes.
