Gerard Butler reprises his role as Stoick from How to Train Your Dragon (2010).

This is the first official live-action adaptation of a DreamWorks feature.

While the cast are British, Irish, Scottish and New Zealand, Mason Thames is the only American actor in the film.

Gerard Butler and Nico Parker’s mother Thandiwe Newton acted together in 2008’s RocknRolla.

Both Tuffnut and Ruffnut have been aged up for the remake, as both Harry Trevaldwyn and Bronwyn James are in their 30’s.
