The band was special guest performers on the Graham Norton show.
They performed a track for their latest album GARY before going on tour across the nation.
Lead singer, Tom Ogden explained the Gorilla title:
“He was in the car and the radio came on and broke the news – the news the hunt still on for a masked gorillas stolen from a garden in Carluke, Scotland.
“Okay, pricked my ears – the thing that really got me the gorilla had a name and his name was Gary. When I got home I started googling and reading about Gary the Gorilla was stolen.
Graham Norton: Did he know about the statue previously?
“No news to me.”
Tom rang rest of band and said had brand new idea for a tune and that he’d found a buffoon. The got their own gorilla and had an exact replica made.
