Heartwarming moments Liam met the Royal Family
Former One Direction star Liam Payne has died aged 31, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.
The Wolverhampton-born singer was one of five members who rapidly rose to fame after finishing in third place on the British talent show ‘The X-Factor’ in 2010.
As a chart-topping singer, alongside his bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, the group met members of the Royal Family on numerous occasions.
In 2014, One Direction met the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the Royal Variety Performance.
During the encounter, Prince William told the group that he’d been keeping “a close eye” on their success.
While Styles couldn’t resist congratulating Princess Catherine on the birth of Charlotte.
Police say they were called to the hotel after reports of an “aggressive man who may have been under the effects of drugs and alcohol”.
Liam Payne’s family have just issued a statement following his death:
“We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.
“We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”
