Conclave, made by German director Edward Berger, picked up four awards in total including best film and best British film; the first time a movie has won both in the same year since the 2019 war drama, 1917. It also won best adapted screenplay and best editing.

A conclave is one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events: the selection of a new pope. Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) tasked with running this covert process after the unexpected death of the beloved Pope. Once the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders gather from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Lawrence finds himself at the centre of a conspiracy and discovers a secret that could shake the very foundation of the Church.

Based on 2016 novel “Conclave”, by Robert Harris.

The film cast includes three Oscar nominees: Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci and John Lithgow.
