Coldplay provide rousing festival finale
A set full of flashing lights, fireworks and confetti by Coldplay closed this year’s Radio 1 Big Weekend.
The group, led by frontman Chris Martin, headlined the festival at Stockwood Park, in Luton on Sunday.
Coldplay performed ‘an unbelievable’ new song called Orange, dedicated to Luton Town Football Club, during the band’s set at Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
The headline act went through classic hits such as Viva La Vida, Yellow and A Sky Full of Stars to entertain the crowd at Stockwood Park, Luton.
Tonight’s headliner Coldplay gave the perfect closing performance in Luton.
Before playing Yellow, which has been one of the band’s biggest hits since it was released on their 2000 album Parachutes, Chris said the track had ‘nothing to do with Luton’.
The festival took place over three days in Luton, with Sabrina Carpenter, Olly Alexander and Vampire Weekend also among the big names.
Luton Town relegated from the Premier League this season, which was their first in the top flight of English football since 1991-92.
