SpaceX Starship launches on 3rd integrated test flight
SpaceX’s next Starship to fly has passed a critical fuelling test, setting the stage for a highly anticipated third launch attempt of the world’s biggest rocket.
The gleaming, stainless-steel Starship rocket and its Super Heavy booster together stand 400 feet tall (122 meters). Filled with more than 10 million pounds of liquid methane and liquid oxygen propellant during the recent launch dress rehearsal. Performed at SpaceX’s Starbase facility near Boca Chica Beach in southern Texas.
Starship is currently the largest and most powerful rocket ever built. Its ultimate aim is to help astronauts journey to the moon, and eventually Mars, as they embark on more sustained space missions and perhaps start creating settlements on the alien worlds.
Starship’s second flight test achieved a number of major milestones and provided invaluable data to continue rapidly developing Starship. Each of these flight tests continue to be just that: a test. They aren’t occurring in a lab or on a test stand, but are putting flight hardware in a flight environment to maximise learning.
