Latest 10/4/24: World Athletics announced it will become the first international federation to award prize money at the Olympic Games. The global governing body said a total prize pot of $2.4m (£1.9m) made available for this summer’s Olympics in Paris.  Gold medallists to receive $50,000 (£39,400).  IOC says its distributes 90 per cent of all its income to help athletes and sports organisations at all levels around the world.

The Olympic Games Paris 2024 will centre its athletes and events on gender equality and youth.  Skateboarding, Sport Climbing, Surfing and Breaking confirmed as additional sports proposed by the Paris 2024 Organising Committee. 

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved the programme. The decision will help make the Olympic Games Paris 2024 fit for a post-corona world and more attractive to the young.
