LIVE: Recovery of sunken luxury super yacht Bayesian
Watch live the British-flagged luxury superyacht that sank off Sicily last year moved to the Sicilian port of Termini Imerese. This after being lifted from the water. A U.K. tech magnate Mike Lynch and six others were killed.
Covered with algae and mud, it was visible clear of the sea in the holding area of a yellow floating crane barge, a witness told the Associated Press.
Vessel to be transported to port where investigators will try to find cause of fatal sinking during storm.
Salvage teams in Sicily say the vessel lifted Mike Lynch’s superyacht “fully and finally out of the water”. This for the first time since it sank last year during a storm, killing seven people including the tech tycoon and his teenage daughter.
The 56-metre (184ft) vessel transported to the port of Termini Imerese. This where investigators will examine it as part of an inquiry into the cause of the sinking.
The Bayesian anchored just offshore near the port of Porticello, in the province of Palermo, when it sank during a violent storm shortly before dawn on 19 August 2024.
