LIVE: Member of Irish rap group Kneecap charged
A member of the Irish rap trio Kneecap charged under the Terrorism Act has been granted unconditional bail. This leaves him free to play at the Glastonbury Festival this month.
Watch Live outside London’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court for the arrival of Liam O’Hanna. He’s a member of the Irish rap group Kneecap and charged with a terrorism offence for allegedly displaying a flag in support of the Iran-backed group Hezbollah.
Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, charged under the name Liam O’Hanna accused of displaying a flag in support of proscribed organisation Hezbollah at a London gig.
O’Hanna, whose stage name is Mo Chara, is alleged to have shown the flag during a gig in London in November 2024.
The 27-year-old, who performs under the name Mo Chara was accompanied by band members Móglaí Bap (Naoise Ó Cairealláin) and DJ Próvaí (JJ Ó Dochartaigh).
In a statement, posted on social media in May, Kneecap said: “We deny this ‘offence’ and will vehemently defend ourselves.”
The band arrived at court on Wednesday wearing “Free Mo Chara” T-shirts.
