Hastings Protest Calls for Action Against Genocide in Palestine

On Saturday (16 November) the Hastings and District Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) organised a peaceful protest in Hastings.

They were calling attention to what they describe as the ongoing genocide of Palestinians.

The demonstrators urged the public to take a stand by leveraging consumer power, advocating for a boycott of companies allegedly complicit in supporting or enabling the occupation of Palestine.

Among the targeted companies were Barclays, McDonald’s, and technology giant Hewlett-Packard (HP).  Protesters claimed these corporations have ties to the Israeli government or benefit from the continued oppression of Palestinians.  The group encouraged consumers to reconsider where they spend their money.

The PSC emphasises the importance of grassroots action in challenging systemic injustice and expressed solidarity with Palestinians facing violence and displacement. The campaign also highlighted their broader mission to promote awareness of human rights violations and to work toward justice and peace in the region.

Participants said they hope that consumer-led movements will pressure corporations to divest from any practices that contribute to the alleged oppression of Palestinians.
