Sir Keir Starmer faces new opposition leader Kemi Badenoch for first time.

First up an urgent question on small boat crossings.

Fresh from her election victory as the new leader of the Conservative Party Kemi Badenoch is to do battle in her first Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) as Leader of the Opposition.

Both extend congratulations to Donald Trump on his US presidential victory.

Badenoch secured victory over Robert Jenrick to become Tory party leader on Saturday 2 November.

Since then she has been assembling her Shadow Cabinet, which includes her former leadership rivals Jenrick as shadow Justice Secretary, Mel Stride as shadow Chancellor and Dame Priti Patel as shadow Soreign Secretary.

Now the former business secretary will have her first opportunity to grill the Prime Minister as she makes her debut at the despatch box in the wake of the Government’s Budget last week.

TThe session normally lasts for about half and hour and is the only opportunity most MPs have to question the Prime Minister directly about Government business.
