NASA’s SpaceX Crew-8 Re-entry and Splashdown

Watch Crew-8 return to Earth, concluding their mission to the International Space Station. Their SpaceX Dragon spacecraft is scheduled for splashdown off the coast of Florida on Friday, Oct. 25 at approximately 3:29 a.m. EDT (0729 UTC).

NASA astronauts Michael Barratt, Matthew Dominick, and Jeanette Epps and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin are coming home after seven months aboard the orbiting lab, conducting scientific experiments and technology demonstrations.

The four launched on March 3 aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who launched to the station aboard NASA’s Boeing Crew Flight Test (CFT) this summer, will return to Earth with the two members of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-9 mission in the spring of 2025.

NASA astronaut Jeanette Epps extracts DNA for the Genomic Enumeration of Antibiotic Resistance in Space experiment, which surveys the station for antibiotic-resistant organisms and sequences their DNA to examine adaptations to space. Results could support development of measures to protect astronauts and people in buildings and facilities on Earth, such as hospitals, from resistant bacteria.
