Hurricane Milton is battering the US State bringing with it deadly tornadoes floods and storm surges
Millions of people in Florida rushing to leave their homes, as Hurricane Milton races towards the state’s west coast. It is expected the storm crashes landfall on Sarasota and reduce to category 2. When it enders Orlando it becomes category 1. But weather experts say it is still huge strong storm.
Milton – a category four storm is packing ferocious winds of up to 165mph (270km/h)
US President Joe Biden warned that leaving was a matter of “life and death”, as the state undertakes its largest evacuation effort in years President Joe Biden warns the storm could be the worst to hit Florida in a century.
He urged those in the storm’s path to evacuate immediately, and that it was a matter of “life and death”.
Florida’s emergencies chief warned storm surges are “not survivable” in some areas.
The storm comes less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene hit the Gulf Coast as a category four storm. It killed at least 225 people across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina.
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor says Joe Biden wanted to have “everything we needed” ahead of Milton’s landfall in Florida.
