Live: Memorial Nova Music Festival for victims 7 Oct attack
Israelis are holding memorials and rallies for those killed and abducted last October 7. For Palestinians in Gaza, there is no reprieve from a war that has killed tens of thousands.
On Monday the first anniversary of the deadliest day in its history, the Hamas-led attacks on Oct. 7, 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 250 others abducted.
Thousands of Israelis visit the Nova Music Festival memorial, the location of a rave party where Hamas killed 364 and kidnapped 44 partygoers and staff on Oct. 7, to pay tribute and mourn the victims as Israel marks the first anniversary of the attacks.
The anniversary caps 12 months of profound loss and trauma for both Israelis and Palestinians, amid a war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza that has become the deadliest in a century of conflict between Arabs and Jews and the longest since the fighting that set the boundaries of the Israeli state in 1949.
