Andy Murray’s tennis career over

Murray’s glittering tennis career has come to an end.

Andy Murray and Dan Evans lost 6-2 6-4 to American third seeds Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul  in the Olympic men’s doubles quarter-finals.

The tearful two-time Wimbledon Champion bows out of Olympic doubles defeat alongside Dan Evans.  This the Scot’s final ever tennis match.

In the history of British sport, never did there beat a greater heart or burn a more defiant spirit than Andy Murray’s.

Murray, 37, confirmed before the Paris Games that it would be his final event before retiring from the sport.

“I’m proud of my career, my achievements and what I put into the sport,” said Murray.

Andy Murray ends with a haul of achievements that few could dream of. He’s won three grand slam titles, including two at Wimbledon and two Olympic gold medals.

Murray made a final farewell on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, the second biggest court at the Olympics.
